Premature secret- I couldn’t wait to tell you!

14 Dec

I seriously thought I could keep it under wraps till it was finally done. I’d planned to pull it off without starving goldinwords or you of the weekly refreshing experience that you’ve gotten used to by now. But alas, it’s blood that runs through my veins –not Tampico- lol, and I’m unable to do both at the same time seamlessly.

So if you’ve visited goldinwords in the past week or two and haven’t seen new material being churned out at the usual rate, there’s actually a very good reason for it. And it’s not because the well went dry. Something major is happening behind the scenes, and you’re entitled to know about it.

A couple of months back God gave me a terrrrific idea for a novel. From that day onwards, my hands, laptop and almost all my energy has gone into it. For the first time, I’m going to talk about it publicly here, because the nerve to actually set out on this very ambitious journey couldn’t have come without your several encouraging comments and turn-ups here on goldinwords. So by all means sit back and buckle up. The idea, title and synopsis have been copyrighted already o.

As it is now, the working title for this novel is; The Agency Vrs the Republic ©. It’s an action-packed, fast-paced, romance-interspersed thriller with an authentic and ingenious Ghanaian twist to it. It combines the emotions of love, revenge, rage and elements of politics, international covert operations and current economic trends in a riveting and unprecedented way.

It tells the story of Clint McCauley, a 33 year old black American of Ghanaian parentage who grows up to become a decorated and the third most valuable and lethal operative of the Central Intelligence Agency. He’s in the topmost bracket of the most elite unit in the agency (the S.A.D), but works as an N.O.C (non official cover agent), his cover being an international Photo journalist for the prestigious Global Images Inc.

He loathes Ghana, because his mother made him believe that during the A.F.R.C revolution that overthrew the SMC II in Ghana (1979), his father and the rest of the family he could have had were killed. Only she managed to seek asylum in the states, at which time she was pregnant with him. This compelling rage and bitterness for Ghana drove him to the heart of law enforcement in its most covert form; the CIA.

His life’s defining moment comes when his employers assign him on a mission that’s supposed to be his easiest; assassinate the President of the REPUBLIC of Ghana. He considered it a golden opportunity to even the score, to revenge and take from the Ghana people, something that’s not nearly as valuable to them as his ‘departed’ father would have been to him. His employers lamely explain that the Gh. President’s communist leanings have turned him into a threat to global security.

What they don’t tell him is that without the consent of the American president, they (CIA Director and Senate Intelligence Oversight Cttee Chairman) have high-jacked American foreign policy. They’re two of the only 18 people worldwide who know that the recent oil discovery in Ghana is only a tip of the iceberg. Even the Ghana government doesn’t know yet that a few miles beyond the Jubilee fields is an oil reserve so large, it’ll definitely make Ghana the largest oil producer in the world! Hence the need to take out the uncooperative Gh. President, who wants to be a true, honest and incorruptible leader.

On his way to Ghana, Clint meets a lady who’s the direct opposite of him (in principle); she’s a world-class surgeon who’s also the low-profile daughter of the Asantehene. Their story takes a life of its own.

When Clint gets the golden opportunity to take out the Ghana President and execute the mission he was sent on, he gets the shock of his life. The man he’d been sent to kill, the president of Ghana, is actually the very man whose alleged death had driven him to be who he was; his father! His mother had lied (and for good reasons too).

What decision would he make? Would he pull the trigger and kill the father he never had or will he go rogue and turn against the Company, the CIA, the employer of 2000 professional killers worldwide?

If he does pull the trigger, what’ll happen to the love he’s found in the Asantehene’s daughter? Will his life ever be the same? In the absence of the hatred for being fatherless, what’ll drive him on? What meaning would there be to his life?

However, if he does pull the trigger, will he alone be able to take down the wrath of the most covert agency in the world, how’ll he possibly pull it off without losing his own life?

You need to read this thriller to find out! Blood curdling Gun-fights in Nima, lightening fast car-chases through the Osu oxford street, stealth break-ins into the Osu Castle, face to face with Manhyia guards, you just must read this novel to see how all these and lots more unwind; more twists and turns than you’ll find in a pack of plantain chips, lol.

So there you have it; THAT, is the reason why you haven’t been seeing as much refreshing activity here as before. But rest assured, when the novel does come out, it definitely would have been worth the wait. I’d like that you pray for me, and for this novel; it’s a really daring and highly ambitious project that warrants a lot of research, focus, favour, commitment and discipline. So please, please do pray with and for me and encourage me, it works wonders.

I’m already a quarter-way through and hoping to finish with the first draft by Feb. My goldinwords family will definitely get preferential treatment and special mentions.

If you have any tit bits, ideas or suggestions you’ll like to make, please do leave it as a comment here. You never know, the ending might be the result of your suggestion, or something unexpected’ll happen that you suggested. My point is, your opinion counts, so give it!

Thank you so much for everything, really. Every single fan, comment and visit has culminated into this. That’s whassup!

A message 4 plagiarists: The idea, title and synopsis have been copyrighted already ©. You’re too late :-P
