Know Me Better
A little hard to accurately put down into words, a description of someone even I am knowing better by the day, but lemme see;
The fun Me.
The name’s Anyan, Benjamin Anyan (like James Bond says his name). On 15th of June last year, I turned 23.
I love small poles (the kinda football you play in Ghana when you are just like six players , a small playing area and no goal posts), and I love scrabble, chess and monopoly. I like to think I’m quite a force to reckon with in those games. I love intellectually engaging, funny, witty movies. I reeeallly like movies, given they have the above virtues. Swimming does to me what a cigar’ll do to a Mafia king-pin .
I love being unpredictable and have a keen interest in Kinesics (science of body language). Anything that mixes adrenaline and fun intensely piques my interest- I guess that makes me a risk lover…in many cases. I’m up for Truth or dare and rock, paper, scissors any day. I’m a prank master, because I’m good with accents, I could be just about anything to anyone…its easier on phone.
The scholar me
I attended Presby Boys Sec. School( PRESEC-LEGON), read business there, then headed straight to the University of Ghana, Legon where I majored in Economics and minored Political Science.
In my third year, I took a diploma-course in Strategic Marketing Management with the Institute of Commercial Management- UK. Before then I’d taken an on-line copy-writing course with Proaccel Ltd.; a fine writing company based in the UK- that was my first encounter with professional persuasive writing; it was love at first write. Written a couple of sales copies since- my most recent being one for my current employer.
Before then I’d just been writing poems- actually made a small living writing customized poems for seniors and classmates in Presec, had my own clientele and all. Was on the School Editorial Board during the 2003-2004 academic year and was an executive of the school’s Writer’s and Debaters club during the same period (though I can’t remember what exec. Position I held). Wrote my 1st poem in JSS2 when my school was going to publish a magazine; my school teacher turned mine down because he didn’t believe it could be written by a 13yr old and didn’t want copied work. Ok, so that’s it for the scholar me.
The writer me
I bring value with me. Intrinsically, I’m a value-adding person. Many people have experiences, thoughts, opinions and emotions they find rather difficult coining into the right words , when they see it done in a clear, coherent, original way, their reaction is rather enthusiastic!, it’s then they feel they can identify with and appreciate the piece. My writings are very interactive and involving, they have the tendency to reach out to the reader and literally absorb him into it, provided he falls within the target readership. It’s not so much about the subject-matter of the piece as it is about the clear, crisp and sincere way in which it’s unfolded.
I usually don’t have so many ‘I’s on one page, because I’m very familiar with the ‘What’s In It For Me (WII FM) mentality’ that almost everyone-if not absolutely everyone- is plagued with. People usually enjoy a piece because it has 2 things in it for them; information and entertainment. Essentially, every other desired trait in a piece- wit, humor, facts, practicality, et al- falls under these 2 headings. I do well to embed all I write with them.
I have an uncontrollable obsession to make a difference…it seems to me to be the point of living. Ultimately, all I am seeks to glorify God, by being a blessing to humanity.
There are a couple of other MEs, that’ll just crack you up!!! But you can’t know everything about someone in just one conversation can you? So let’s build a relationship first okay? …flow with the tide, it’ll be fun- I promise.

Great job! I encourage you to keep it up because I know how difficult it is to write. God bless you and take you higher and higher…
