Sometime last week I copied an R&B album off a friend’s laptop. I played it in the morning. One song lingered. It was Ne-Yo’s Part of the list. I’ve attached it to this post; the poem is so much better when it’s playing in the background. It’s the koose that goes with this koko. Lol.
It talked about the little, easy-to-overlook things that he misses when he thinks about his ex. It’s not beautiful because of who it’s for or the words in it, but because it achieves the tremendous feat of making an enduring impact using small, seemingly insignificant things.
I was deeply moved and replayed it dozens of times. I wrote this at the height of its inspiring effect. You wonder a million things, like if I’ll miss you. This is the answer. Even I shuddered when I read it over.

My answers to your question.
The curve of your lips when you smile,
The way you fold into me when we hug.
The way you dance, when the only music playing
Is my soul whistling and your heart drumming
That look you wear when you’re deep in thought
And the ones when you’re making funny faces.
